Getting Started
Edworking offers a visual board where you can create, organise and track tasks for your projects. Each task appears as a card in a column that represents its current state (Backlog, In progress, Reviewing, Completed or any custom list you create). The clean interface makes it easy to capture ideas quickly, assign work to teammates and keep everything moving.
Creating a Task
Open the Create menu. In the left sidebar you’ll see a Create button. Click it and choose New Task from the menu.
Fill in the task details. A modal window opens where you can:
Give your task a name.
Select its initial state (e.g., Backlog or In progress).
Set a due date using the date picker.
Assign the task to one or more teammates by clicking on the Assignees field.
Optionally set a priority and add tags to categorise the task. Tags can also be used to note which tools or technologies are relevant.
Write a clear description. The text area supports headings, bullet/numbered lists and rich formatting; select text to bring up formatting options
Add files if needed. Drag files into the Uploaded Files area or use the plus icon to browse and select documents or images.
When you’re ready, click New Task (top‑right) to save the card.
Subtasks and Breaking Down Work
Within the description you can break your work into smaller subtasks by using bullet or numbered lists. This helps clarify individual steps and responsibilities. Alternatively, create separate task cards for each sub‑task and group them together in a dedicated sprint list.
Creating a Quick Task
If you just need to jot down an item quickly, use the Quick Task link at the bottom of any column on your board. Clicking this opens a simple text field; type the task name and press Add to instantly create a card in that columnYou can always open the card later to add more details.
Organising and Moving Tasks
Drag and drop between columns. To update a task’s status, simply drag the card from one column to another
This instantly changes its state.
Change state inside the card. When editing a task you can also switch its state using the drop‑down next to the State field.
Editing a Task
Click any task card to open its detail view. Here you can:
Edit the title, description, tags, priority or due date.
Reassign the task to someone else.
Attach or remove files.
Use the Task Chat on the right to discuss the work with teammates.
Start a video call directly from the task via the camera icon — ideal for quick clarifications.
Your changes are saved automatically when you close the window.
Customising Your Board
Edworking boards are flexible and can be tailored to your workflow:
Use Create List in the sidebar to add new columns that reflect your process (for example, “To Do”, “Testing”, “Sprint 1” or “Blocked”). Name the list and click Create to add it to the board. These lists can represent agile sprints or special statuses for your team.
Rearrange columns by dragging them left or right.
Rename or delete a list via the options menu (
…
) on the list header or by clicking its title. Deleting a list moves its tasks back to the backlog.
Display Options and Filters
In the top right of the board you’ll find a Display menuthat lets you control how tasks are shown:
Switch between Board view (kanban columns) and List view (a single vertical list).
Filter tasks by user, priority, list or tag. For example, show only tasks assigned to you.
Group by section, assignee or due date to reorganise cards into sub‑groups.
Order tasks by due date, priority or creation time.
Show or hide completed tasks.
Use Reset to clear filters and return to the default layout.
Searching Tasks
At the top of the workspace there’s a Search bar. Type part of a task name and the board instantly filters to show matching cards, helping you find items quickly.
States: Creating and Editing
States correspond to the column headings across your board. To customise them:
Click Create List to add a new state. Give it a meaningful name — for example, to represent the next sprint or a special status.
Rename a state by clicking its name; an inline editor appears. Use the
…
menu to delete or move the state.
Best Practices
Break tasks down into small, actionable items so that responsibilities are clear.
Use the description field to record instructions, context and acceptance criteria.
Keep tasks updated: change their state as progress is made and archive completed work.
Leverage tags to group tasks by technology, sprint or priority.
Use lists to organise sprints or milestones and move tasks as they advance.
Collaboration in One Place
Every task has its own chat, allowing you to keep conversations, files and links connected to the work item. When questions arise, start a discussion or even launch a video call without leaving the card. With these tools built into each task and the ability to customise your board, Edworking gives you an all‑in‑one environment to capture work, collaborate with your team and keep projects on track.
